Konichiwa! I’m your host Mitch and welcome to the Discovery Scotch and Whiskey Group..JAPANESE JUNE edition! This month we are focusing on the distinct whiskey tastes from the Far East. We’ve decided to have these “particular” whiskies grouped in 2 categories. PEATED vs NON-PEATED. Just to let all the members know that I’ve acquired a peated single malt whiskey called the Matsui. This was distilled from the original Kurayoshi Distillery which was created in 1910 was bought by the Matsui Shuzo company. This is a great combination of smoke, layered sweetness, peated finish and has a higher alcoholic content of 48%. But I digress all the members that are attending this event will find out themselves with their senses. This is a unique contrast to the scotches we’ve had in the past. I hope you are all staying cool in the heat. Thanks to all that attended. The June meet was great times and had some guests from 70 Acre Brewing stop by as well. We had some excellent tastings and we got carried away with the in person meet that we forgot our end discussion on top, least and biggest surprise. Guess we will have to try them all again one day and try again…. Darn lol. So stay tuned for the invite to the July Canadian Try.
